Our different flats and rooms, in all sections of the Huis Nuweland retirement home, are located in one building bordering Sylvia, Eden and Alma Roads in Upper Claremont.
- Free Wi-Fi 24/7/365
- Solar panels on the Alma Rd side of the Home (our northern roof)
- Lithium Batteries/Inverter to counter loadshedding (all lights, Wi-Fi and certain key components keep going through loadshedding)
- Roaming assistance by Caregivers during daytime (7-days a week during office hours only) in Independent/Limited Care sections of the Home
- Clinical and ‘walk-about’ rounds – as scheduled during daytime; and every two hours at night in the Care Centre (inside the rooms, if so agreed); (and as far as the Independent and Limited Care sections are concerned, at night-time in the passages only)
- Daily greetings, check-ins and medication rounds by the senior nursing staff (mornings and evenings)
- One main meal per day – lunch (for all types of accommodation; the only meal standard for residents in flats, unless they opt for other meals – i.e. our small suppers are available at only R10-00 per meal. This is a bargain indeed)
- Wireless Panic/Nurse call buttons provided to all residents
- Security cameras inside, focusing on certain common areas of the home and strategically placed outside the building in certain areas too; and 24/7 staff inside the premises
- ADT site office: across Eden Rd, c/o Eden and Alma Roads, with regular rounds
- Comprehensive stimulation and many activities in our Service Centre and in the Independent areas/Limited Care areas, of the Home
- Free Parking Bays for residents – if needed (visitors park mainly in Sylvia Rd)
- Handing out and managing your medication (blister packing used) – when needed and @ your own cost
- Spiritual Activities
- Transport facilitation @ your own cost
- TV’s and DSTV allowed in all rooms
- Weekly laundry services
- Weekly cleaning services
- Tuck shop open on certain weekdays
- Firm arrangements in place with Cavendish Centre to send their bus to collect residents (once a week)
